Boat Detailing & Restoration
Boat Detailing & Restoration
A Minnesota and Wisconsin boating season is short. Between winter storage, sun exposure, and time on the water, your boat's gelcoat and upholstery take a beating in a compressed window — and most boat owners never get around to proper care until the damage is hard to ignore.
Midwest Shine Mobile Detailing brings the same mobile detailing approach we use on vehicles to boats across the Mississippi River region — at your dock, storage yard, or driveway.
Why Boat Gelcoat Needs Different Care Than Car Paint
Gelcoat isn't paint; it's a thicker, more porous outer layer that oxidizes faster than automotive clear coat, especially with constant sun and water exposure. Left untreated, oxidized gelcoat turns chalky, dull, and rough to the touch, and left long enough, that oxidation becomes difficult to fully reverse. Regular care is what keeps a boat's hull looking like it's a few seasons old instead of a decade old.
A wax simply can't keep up with that environment — it breaks down in weeks under constant sun and water exposure. A properly applied marine ceramic coating chemically bonds to the gelcoat instead of sitting on top of it, holding up season after season while making every wash-down faster and easier.
What's Included
1. Exterior Wash & Deep Clean: hull, deck, and topside surfaces, removing waterline scum, algae, and built-up grime
2. Oxidation Removal & Gelcoat Polishing: restoring clarity and shine to chalky, sun-damaged gelcoat
3. Marine Ceramic Coating: we apply Nautical One Gel Coat Ceramic Coating, rated for up to 3 years of protection above the waterline, hand-applied panel by panel after full decontamination and polishing (a Graphene formula rated up to 5 years is available for owners who want the top tier of protection)
4. Interior & Upholstery Cleaning: seating, flooring, and cabin surfaces cleaned and conditioned
5.Metal & Hardware Care: cleaning and polishing rails, cleats, and other hardware prone to corrosion
Mobile Service, Wherever Your Boat Sits
Just like our vehicle detailing, this is a mobile service that comes to you — whether that's a storage lot, your driveway during the off-season, or the marina. If your boat is in its slip, we'll need access to water and power at the dock to complete the service; for boats on a trailer or in storage, we're fully self-contained, just like our vehicle detailing.
Ideal For
- Pre-season readiness — get your boat looking sharp before the first trip out
- End-of-season protection — sealing gelcoat before winter storage
- Boats that haven't been properly detailed in a season or more and are showing visible oxidation
- Owners who want their boat looking as good as the day they bought it, dock-side, without the hassle of transport
Serving the Mississippi River Region
We provide mobile boat detailing and restoration throughout Caledonia MN, La Crosse WI, Onalaska WI, Holmen WI, La Crescent MN, Spring Grove MN, Waukon IA, and the surrounding Mississippi River corridor including the surrounding lakes and marinas.
Gelcoat Correction Pricing
Gelcoat oxidation removal and polishing is priced at $20 per foot, per correction step. So, a boat needing a more thorough multi-step correction is priced accordingly to match the extra time and product it takes to fully restore the gelcoat. There's no size limit on boats we service.
Ready to Bring Your Boat Back to Life?
Whether it's routine seasonal care or restoring gelcoat that's been neglected for years, we'll get your boat looking the way it should right at your dock.
